Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa is located at Rawai Beach on the south eastern side of Phuket Island. It is set amongst 64 acres of beautifully landscaped tropical gardens, facing the Andaman Sea. Travelling time from the airport is 45 minutes, Phuket town 25 minutes and 40 minutes to Patong Beach.
Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa embodies the Evason philosophy of Redefining Experiences, and as such presents a refreshing reinterpretation of a five star resort designed to appeal to today’s more sophisticated travellers. Evason stands for aspirational and innovative resort experience that are fun and vibrant , yet respectful for others and the environment. The Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa delivers affordable luxury in accessable yet exotic location.
The Evason Phuket and the Environment
Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa’s Social and Environmental Programme is developed in line with Six Senses core purpose:
"To create innovative and enlightening experiences that rejuvenate our guests’ love of SLOW LIFE* "
*SUSTAINABLE – LOCAL – ORGANIC – WHOLESOME LEARNING – INSPIRING – FUN – EXPERIENCES
In many ways The Evason Phuket is an excellent example of sustainability in that the whole resort was developed in the shell of an existing building, perhaps the ultimate recycling experience for such a property. Added to this, numerous features and practices have been put in place to minimize negative impacts and embrace positive impacts. All embody the Evason theme – Redefining Experiences.
The basis for Evason Phuket’s environmental and social efforts comes from the Six Senses Hub’s Holistic Environmental Management Program and Social & Environmental Responsibility Fund. From this guideline Evason Phuket has, in line with Green Globe 21 Company Standard, developed a Social & Environmental Management System providing a clear direction of our environmental and social efforts. Evason Phuket’s Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy is focusing on energy efficiency, water management, waste management, social commitment, protecting natural surroundings, air quality and noise control.
Evason Phuket is the first Green Globe 21 Certified resort in South East Asia and the winner of Wild Asia’s Responsible Tourism Award 2006.
Evason Phuket, Six Senses Spa and the hosts are committed to reducing the negative environmental and social impact from activities associated with the resort and spa industry, namely providing accommodation, dining, excursions, spa experiences, sports and aquatic activities. Evason Phuket is committed to developing a sustainable environment by using the indictors set out by The Green Globe 21 Benchmarking format highlighted below. They will continuously monitor their performance and sustainable activities against the targets and goals set by Green Globe benchmarks, which will be adjusted, amended and acted upon wherever appropriate, and they will continue to submit performance data on an annual basis to Green Globe.
The Earthcheck indicators include:
-
reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency, conservation and management.
-
reduce water consumption through management of freshwater resources.
-
preserve the ecosystem, particularly at Bon Island, but also within the resort as well as nearby surrounding areas.
-
raise social and cultural issue through involvement and contribution to local communities.
-
utilize and manage the land in order to preserve the environment and provide a natural habitat for wildlife and vegetation.
-
protect the air quality both inside their buildings and outside and controlling noise pollution to not negatively affect guests, hosts nor neighbours.
-
treat all waste water to avoid polluting discharges.
-
minimise waste production through reduction, reuse, and recycling of products.
Evason Phuket’s Social and Environmental Management Programme is based around Six Senses Holistic Environmental Management Programme and Green Globe 21 Company Standard. Some of the environmental efforts are listed below:
Producing energy usually creates pollution and is the biggest cause of global warming. At Evason Phuket we are working on several projects to upgrade our systems to reduce our energy usage and to use renewable energy.
-
Solar Thermal Plant for hot water
-
Water pond and water fall used to create insulation
-
Energy monitoring system with "peak demand" control
-
Efficient mini-chiller system
-
Medium Voltage (6,6kV) underground electrical cables
-
Energy efficient light bulbs
-
Double glazed windows
-
Natural ventilation
-
Four stroke engine speedboats
Water consumption is quite a concern on Phuket Island despite a lot of annual rainfall, as most of the water is in private hands and not in the governmental distribution system. Furthermore, waste water is a concern in that it may cause pollution particularly to the marine life. At Evason Phuket we are taking several measures to tackle these challenges.
-
Self-sufficient water supply through own reservoir
-
Production of own drinking water
-
Waste water treatment plant
-
Grey water used for garden irrigation – zero discharge
-
Water saving "push" valves, shower heads and dual flush toilet systems

Waste, garbage, trash, rubbish, whatever you like to call it, is a huge source and cause of environmental degradation – either through litter illegally dumped/dropped, which washes up on beaches all over the world and which we see lying around, or that which is legally disposed of in landfill sites, often in pristine areas, destroying them forever. At Evason Phuket we are actively looking for ways to reduce the waste generated and dispose it properly.
-
Waste separation and recycling
-
Natural rubbish bags
-
Shredding of garden waste
-
Composting facility
-
Re-use of the reverse side of printed paper
-
Engine oil reused by treating wood
-
Recycled wood used (plywood)
-
Driftwood used for decoration
-
In-room torches with rechargeable batteries
-
Suppliers asked to reduce packaging
Evason Phuket and particularly our private beach at Bon Island are surrounded by a beautiful, biologically diverse coral reef, while the island itself is also home to numerous animal and plant species. Evason Phuket itself has been planted in order to try and re-generate a tropical flora as it would have been if left untouched.
-
Local plants and fruit trees used
-
Garden planted to give a natural look as well as shading from sun and noise
