Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV is a revolution in motion and the pinnacle of the Mitsubishi Motor Company’s “Intelligent Motion” movement – aiming to become a world leader in the reduction of CO2 emissions on a global scale. i-MiEV produces zero exhaust emissions.

After decades of experimentation, innovation and trials, the future of motoring is here and people can buy a pure-EV (Electric Vehicle), Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV – providing all the sophistication and modernity they would expect from a C21st vehicle, but far surpassing its old-technology rivals, offering zero CO2 emissions; making it the perfect urban car for the modern world.

Environment

i-MiEV is the world’s first mass-produced full electric vehicle, and produces zero CO2 tailpipe emissions. It benefits from free road tax, free city parking, no London congestion charge and various tax incentives – making it incredibly cheap to run in expensive urban environments. It generates no engine noise, so contributes a lot less noise pollution than most forms of transport. And it’s clever regenerative braking system even charges the battery pack on the move, meaning even less energy consumption and subsequent pollution. i-MiEV is the very definition of green motoring.

Electric power steering (EPS)

The fitment of electric power steering to the i-MiEV reduces the engine loads and additional fuel consumption associated with conventional hydraulic steering systems. The electronic power steering only draws energy when it’s required, resulting in lower emissions and improved fuel consumption.

Energy Management

The dashboard layout is as you would expect with many of the normal functions and display lay-out you would recognize. The only difference is that the combination meter gives you relevant information for an electric vehicle rather than petrol/diesel:

  • Energy usage – allows you to see the consumption of electricity. The dial shows you power usage. When the indicator is in the “Eco” zone you are extending your driving range and the “Charge” zone shows when the battery is being charged during deceleration (regenerative braking).
  • Energy level gauge – shows you how much charge is available.
  • Cruising range – shows remaining distance range, this is calculated by the consumption of electricity for the last 15 miles driven and the usage of the air conditioning usage.
  • Low energy warning indicator – will flash when the battery energy level becomes low and the car needs to be charged.
  • Power down warning lamp – will light up when the battery energy level becomes zero.

i-MiEV Design

  • Production i-MiEV styling based on an evolution of the highly-acclaimed petrol 660cc Turbo Auto ‘i’ model range.
  • Sleek, dynamic, award-winning design, reflecting the modernity and environmental significance of its engineering innovation.
  • Compact, easy-parking city functionality, with no overhangs, lightweight electronic power steering and a wheel at each corner.
  • Stylish functional designs including: Integrated (automatic) Halogen headlamps, front and rear fog lamps and LED rear lamps, roof mounted aerial and spoiler with high-mounted stop lamp, privacy glass and colour-coded door mirrors and handles.
  • Fresh, funky and fun look reflecting the i-MiEV brand.

The i-MiEV’s long wheelbase and tall stance provide a remarkable amount of room for such a compact car, whilst the large windscreen and low-slung dash make it feel even more spacious and ensure superb visibility. The seats are comfortable yet supportive with heating for the driver’s side, whilst air conditioning combined with a deodorising air filter keeps the driving environment cool and fresh.
