Starbucks To Accept Red Cross Donations for Haitian Relief Efforts In U.S. and Canada

Company Joins Wyclef Jean and Yele Haiti to Drive Awareness; Starbucks Foundation Also to Contribute $1 Million Dollars (U.S.) to the American Red Cross

In response to the Haitian relief effort, Starbucks committed support and funding to the growing international relief effort. Participating Starbucks stores in the U.S. and Canada will enable customers to make monetary donations at store registers, with no purchase necessary, to benefit the American and Canadian Red Cross organizations for a limited time. The Starbucks Foundation will also donate $1 million (U.S.) from The Starbucks Foundation to the American Red Cross efforts to help Haiti.

In addition, Haitian-American musician Wyclef Jean has collaborated with Starbucks to make an appeal to the Global Community about the crucial needs of the Haitian community.

The earthquake that rocked the coast of Haiti killed or injured a devastating number of people. Even more were left in need of aid, making this one of the major humanitarian emergencies in the history of the Americas. In the aftermath of the disaster, President Barack Obama asked President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush to raise funds for immediate, high-impact relief and long-term recovery efforts to help those who are most in need of assistance. In response, the two Presidents established the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund (CBHF) to respond to unmet needs in the country, foster economic opportunity, improve the quality of life over the long term for those affected, and assist the people of Haiti as they rebuild their lives and “build back better.”

The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund will do this by working with and supporting the efforts of reputable 501(c)(3) nongovernmental and nonprofit organizations. Presidents Clinton and Bush oversee the CBHF through their respective nonprofit organizations, the William J. Clinton Foundation and Communities Foundation of Texas. One hundred percent of donations received by the Clinton Foundation and the Communities Foundation of Texas go directly to relief efforts.

Water gives life to every human being. Clean water is vital to well-being in every stage of life. On the contrary, dirty water kills.

The catastrophe in Haiti has destroyed water and sanitation infrastructure. Safe water is scarce. Without help, life after the after shocks in Haiti will not survive polluted water, the cause of life-threatening diseases such as dysentery, cholera, and diarrhoea.

While helps are pouring in to Haiti from every corner of the world, Reed Tradex chooses to focus on the fundamental of life, that is giving clean water, with hope that as many Haitian’s lives as possible will be saved, in the most sustainable way as can be.

To do that in the most reliable way to ensure that Haitians receive our help, we are working with “Just a Drop” charity on “Just Help Haiti” project to raise fund whose full amount will go to the country and help rebuild water and sanitation infrastructure at a local community level.

What is “Just Help Haiti” Project?

“Just Help Haiti” is a project under the “Just a Drop” charity to aid the urgent water shortage problems and help with the vital ongoing support to ensure sustainable recovery of the country.

“Just a Drop” is a registered water-aid charity by Reed Exhibitions, the world’s leading events organizer with offices in 36 countries, that has been dedicated to helping to build clean water sources for poorest communities around the world for 11 years. So far, 29 countries have been saved by the charity.

มูลนิธิ คิง เพาเวอร์ ร่วมกับกลุ่มบริษัท คิง เพาเวอร์ จัดโครงการ “Thai to Haiti หนึ่งน้ำใจแด่เพื่อนผู้ประสบภัยชาวเฮติ” เพื่อรวบรวมเงินบริจาคช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบภัยพิบัติแผ่นดินไหวครั้งรุนแรงที่สุดในรอบกว่า 200 ปีสร้างความเสียหายอย่างหนักแก่เฮติ   ประเทศหมู่เกาะในทะเลแคริบเบียน ท่ามกลางความวิตกกังวลว่าอาจจะมีผู้เสียชีวิตเป็นจำนวนมาก  ซึ่งแผ่นดินไหวในครั้งนี้วัดแรงสั่นสะเทือนได้ที่ 7.3 ริกเตอร์  ทำให้อาคารสาธารณะทั่วเมืองหลวงถล่มลงมาทั้งหมด รวมทั้งทำเนียบประธานาธิบดี  และการติดต่อสื่อสารขัดข้องทั่วประเทศเฮติ

มูลนิธิ คิง เพาเวอร์ ร่วมกับกลุ่มบริษัท คิง เพาเวอร์ ได้จัดทำโครงการ “Thai  to Haiti หนึ่งน้ำใจแด่เพื่อนผู้ประสบภัยชาวเฮติ” เพื่อรวบรวมเงินบริจาคด้วยการจัดทำกล่องรับบริจาค และเชิญชวนผู้ที่สนใจร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบภัยพิบัติในครั้งนี้ ร่วมบริจาคได้ที่ร้านค้า คิง เพาเวอร์ ถนนรางน้ำ ท่าอากาศยานสุวรรณภูมิ เชียงใหม่ และภูเก็ต ตั้งแต่วันนี้ ถึง 15 กุมภาพันธ์ 2553
